The Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante is located in the heart of the city in front of the monumental Church of Santa María. In a building of radical architecture, with beautiful spaces that ascend in search of light, three permanent collections are exhibited: 20th Century Art Collection, Over Time. Caja Mediterráneo Collection, and Eusebio Sempere Collection. The MACA integrates the old Casa de La Asegurada into its new architecture, converted into a museum since 1977 thanks to the generosity of the Alicante artist Eusebio Sempere, who donated his art collection to the city of Alicante. This transcendent foundational act is the origin of this new MACA.
