A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been stabbed to death on the Costa del Sol.
According to the Efe news agency, the alleged killer is a homeless man who was trying to defend himself from a robbery on the A-377 road between Sabinillas and Manilva.
The incident took place at around 9.30am Saturday, when a passerby noticed a ‘seriously injured’ man in a ditch next to the road and called the police. At least one person has been arrested, reports Malaga Hoy.
The Guardia Civil dispatched a helicopter but arriving paramedics confirmed the victim’s death at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing but the evidence so far points to an argument between the two men turning violent.
Both men were foreign nationals living in Manilva, with at least one of them being a squatter and illegally occupying a home in the area.
Municipal sources quoted by Malaga Hoy said the home is ‘practically in ruins’ and that an eviction order had been issued.
Police are focusing on finding out what sparked the fight between the two men.
The victim’s body was transferred to Malaga for an autopsy, which is expected to shed more light on the incident and confirm the cause of death.
The mayor of Manilva, Jose Manuel Fernandez, visited the scene of the stabbing on Saturday.
It came after the usually ‘very busy’ road had to be cut off to traffic for several hours.
