A Chinese restaurant has been shut down in Madrid after being caught serving street pigeons as roasted duck.
The grisly discovery was made during a raid on the eatery on 37 Perpetua Diaz street in the Usera district of the capital city.
The search made by the Madrid Municipal Police at around 1pm on March 25 revealed a litany of horrors and serious health violations.
Among them were unlabelled meat and fish, cockroaches in the kitchen, rat traps on the floor and street pigeons being served as ‘roasted duck’.

Bodycam footage from the police officers shows how the door to a secret storage room was hidden behind a shelf in the disabled toilet.
The room was not listed on the business licence, police said.
Officers found eight freezers with meat and fish that were unlabelled, untraceable and with no use by dates on them.
There were no thermometres to measure the temperatures of storing areas.
The restaurant was ordered to close and the owner is being investigated for alleged crimes against public health.
