Dozens of provinces in Spain have been placed on alert for severe heat this week.
Temperatures are once again set to reach or even exceed 40C in southern, central and eastern areas, following two successive heatwaves last week.
According to official weather agency Aemet, temperatures in inland Sevilla, Cordoba and other parts of Andalucia will reach highs of 40C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile temperatures along the south northern Valencian coast will soar to as high as 41C.
All the aforementioned areas are on an orange level alert until at least Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Alicante coast, including Benidorm, is on a yellow alert over the same period, with highs of 36C predicted.
Further west on the Costa del Sol, a yellow alert is in place on Wednesday, when the mercury is set to reach an average of 36C.
However Aemet said in its report that locally thermometres could reach 40C.
